Expectations
I have very high expectations for all of my students. I believe that all students can succeed if they put in the effort that they need to. Students who meet behavioral and academic expectations will almost certainly earn proficient or advanced on the TCAP assessment. Both the 8th grade science and the physical science classes will be difficult and demanding, but as a result, the students will be well prepared for the TCAP and to advance to high school and beyond.

Students in the physical science class, students should expect about 3-4 hours of homework every week. Students in the 8th grade science class should expect about 2-3 hours of homework every week.
Homework is an essential part of learning. It is important that students complete homework individually unless directed otherwise.

Rules and Consequences
The motto for the 8th grade team at JT Moore Middle School is to SOAR (Show responsibility, On time, Always prepared, and Respect yourself and others). Additionally, there are other rules as follows:
Tardies: When a student is late to class (not to school)
3 warnings, 4th offense is a call home, 5th offense is an office referral
Preparation: Students must bring a 3 ring binder with paper, a pencil, and their planner.
Behavior: Students are to follow the directions of the teacher, only speak when directed to speak, and treat everyone and everything with respect.
Choosing to not follow behavioral expectations will result in moving down the consequences continuum
Consequences continuum:
1) Name and check (name goes on the board the first time, 2nd time a check is written next to the name)
2) Reflection sheet (If a student misbehaves a 3rd time they will be asked to move to the reflection space and fill out the reflection sheet below)

3) Move to another room (The student will move to another teachers room to complete work)
4) Phone call home.
5) Office referral
Consequences will not always follow the continuum exactly. Certain misbehaviors will cause a student to advance more quickly and at other times logical consequences will be given that are not on the continuum (ex. drawing on the table will result in cleaning the table).
